About Sunny Days

Sunny Days Behavioural Solutions (SDBS) was established in 2023 with the vision to create a service that empowers people with disabilities to live life as they choose while building their holistic well-being, skills, and support networks.

We understand that all behaviour has a purpose, and our goal is to produce a formulation that sheds light on the unique purpose of each client’s behaviours.

By better understanding our clients’ behaviour, we can determine how to support the person in making changes to their environment/supports and building their skills so they can meet their needs in a more positive, balanced way.
We also ensure to provide skill-building and support for our client’s support network in all environments (for example, home, school and in the community) to ensure that support for the person is holistic and consistent.

“It’s time we take our focus off disabilities and place it on capabilities so we can see the person first”

Robert M. Hensel

We complete functional behaviour assessments to allow us to get to know you and better understand your behaviour, which then inform our behaviour support plans.

We tailor our behaviour support plans uniquely to each person, to ensure that individualised and relevant strategies and skill-building intervention is provided to each client.
Once a behaviour support plan is developed, we put in the time to complete an implementation support program, where we schedule regular visits to provide you with the ongoing support you need to learn new skills and implement positive change. We support you to actively use this plan and actively monitor and review the plan as needed.
We also complete functional behaviour assessments for clients who require behaviour support but do not yet have improved relationships funding. This allows us to identify the client’s behavioural concerns and needs, so we can share this information with the NDIS to ensure the necessary support is included in your next NDIS plan.

Vision:

To support and empower young people with disabilities to build their skills, navigate developmental transitions, and be connected with a network of support that enables them to live their very best life.

Mission:

Our mission is to provide support for people living with disabilities so that they can live life on their own terms.
We focus on creating a community of support based on long-term, person-centred relationships. Our goal is to make a positive impact that empowers individuals, their families, and their loved ones. We aim to help people living with disabilities develop their skills, improve their overall health, and strengthen their support networks’ ability to assist them.

Values:

Relationships:

Relationships are the core of SDBS, it’s more than just providing support or working together; it’s truly taking the time to understand one another, nurture lasting connections and develop trust. Our relationships are strong and enduring and are at the centre of our clients and team members’ wellbeing and success in progressing towards their individual goals.

Community:

Community and a sense of belonging is essential to wellbeing and quality of life and we strive to provide that space to anyone who wishes to join us. Taken a step further, at SDBS we protect the right of all individuals to live life as they choose and we support everyone to be full and active members of their wider community.

Respect:

We respect all people’s rights, viewpoints and contributions. We look at the world from a diverse and inclusive perspective.

Empowerment:

We support people in making choices that enable them to live the life that they want. We encourage individual choice and control over who, when, how and why they receive support. We empower people to know, understand and enact their rights and responsibilities. Our goal is to provide support that empowers individuals with new skills, understanding, autonomy, and independence.

Excellence:

We always strive to provide the highest quality care and support to individuals living with disabilities, their families and loved ones. We continually look for areas to improve and innovate in our service delivery. We commit to responding promptly and appropriately to individual and systematic needs and appreciate the importance of being able to pivot and partner to find effective solutions.
